About this tool

What Blur / Sharpness Detector does

Soft interiors from slow shutter speeds, missed focus on kitchen islands, and motion blur on walk-and-shoot exteriors are among the most common reasons a listing set looks unprofessional. This detector scores each frame with Laplacian variance — a standard sharpness proxy — and surfaces soft files with thumbnails so you can reject them fast.

Batch up to 30 photos. Use it after exposure culling and before compression or portal upload. Scores help you rank borderline frames instead of guessing on a phone screen.

Pair with Auto-Culler by Exposure for brightness issues, EXIF Viewer if you need to confirm shutter speeds that caused the blur, and MLS Ready once keepers are locked. For AI enhancement of sharp frames only, hand the culled set to the FOCAL RAYS editor.

Photographers delivering same-day previews benefit most: five minutes of QA here beats a revision cycle after the agent posts soft hero images.

Macro detail crops of counters and flooring are useful when whole-frame scores are borderline — soft corners on ultrawides can still be acceptable.

FAQ

Common questions

What algorithm is used?

Laplacian variance — a common computational photography proxy for sharpness.

How many files per batch?

Up to 30 images per run.

Does a low score always mean reject?

Use scores as a guide. Artistic bokeh is rare in listing work; low scores usually mean soft focus or motion.

What next after QA?

Convert formats if needed, then MLS Ready for board preflight — or the editor for color and perspective polish.
